Thank you for visiting the Fall and Summer Information page for Sprague Little League. For the 2024 season, we unfortunately will not be offering a Fall Ball program, but we ARE holding Sandlot Fun Days this summer (more information below).
The decision to forgo Fall Ball came with a heavy heart as Fall is a wonderful opportunity to lengthen the Spring season and focus on player development in a more relaxed environment. This season, we were faced with many obstacles to include, but not limited to, the lack of help to run the program and the cost Salem Keizer Public Schools would be imposing for field use and a mandated portable toilet placement. It was not feasible for a nonprofit organization and a program cannot run without helping hands.
We are working on many positive avenues to keep Sprague Little League running smoothly, and we are hopeful to be able to offer more extended programs next season. Please remember we are an all-volunteer run program and our goal is always to help the children of our community grow in a healthy and positive way while learning the fundamentals of baseball.
For this reason, we are offering Sandlot Fun Days on Wednesday evenings from 6-8PM on Field 2 while we still have field use at Crossler MS for no cost through August 11. Hosted by Sprague Little League and spearheaded by Team Managers from our Spring Majors Division, we are all part of ONE team bringing excitement and fun for kids aged 10-13. If you are an approved volunteer who would like to spearhead another division and are not subscribed to our emails, please click here for more details!
Sandlot Fun Days was a new venture offered to our spring managers and many were taking time away from baseball this summer and we understand! Little League believes in developing well-rounded children, and that means incorporating activities and hobbies that extend far beyond baseball. Summer is a great time for Little Leaguers to try a different sport and develop other interests. Perhaps this is the season for your child to try basketball, tennis, golf, swimming or maybe your desire is a break from sports to try a musical instrument. No matter what your family's passion may be this summer, we will always support you to Live Your Series and we look forward to seeing your Little Leaguer write his/her next chapter in the Spring. Registration will open around December 15, 2024.
Keep in mind, it is never too early to begin preparing the fields for the next season and we are already working hard behind the seams. As most Little League parents know, operating a local league takes a strong effort from a community of volunteers. While the majority of heavy lifting is often done by adult volunteers, Little Leaguers themselves should chip in and getting their hands dirty is a fun way to help create safe and playable baseball fields.
Support us by taking the family to the field to do some post-season clean-up. It presents the chance for some solid parent/child interaction while at the same time it teaches kids the importance of working hard and volunteering. After the clean-up is done, be sure to reward the work with a cool treat.
Have a fun, and safe summer!
